From 2007 to January of 2009, Bravacos was the Regional Director of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Region III.  He oversaw the delivery of HUD programs and services to communities, evaluated their efficiency and effectiveness in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.  In Fiscal Year 2007, this amounted to supervision of $9.2 billion in HUD funding sent to Region III communities.  He was responsible for 630 HUD employees within the Region. He created task forces to address Fair Housing landlord tenant issues and crime in HUD funded properties. He worked with mayors, city managers, elected representatives, and state and local officials to locate and provide funding for development and redevelopment projects.  He received the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Award for Preserve America activities and was promoted from the General Schedule (GS) to the Senior Executive Service (SES) in recognition of management and leadership successes.

 Earlier in his career, Bravacos was twice elected to the Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors, serving eight years, two as Chairman.  The Township contains nearly 20 square miles, has over 150 miles of roadway and is home to nearly 30,000 residents.  The Township recently celebrated its Tercentennial and is the easternmost township in Chester County, bordering on Valley Forge National Historic Park. 

 As Chairman of the seven-member Board of Supervisors, Bravacos was responsible for development, passage and oversight of $22M annual budget.  He set the agenda for and chaired twice-monthly public meetings. He served as Township representative to Transportation Management Association serving the greater Valley Forge region.  He conceived of, developed support for, planned and implemented first Township strategic plan, incorporating residents, Township staff and elected officials over a three year period.  For six years he served as Board liaison to fifty-member police department with $3M annual budget during which time he identified and resolved significant communication and morale issues, instituted ‘no-stripes’ quarterly meetings and reorganized departmental budget process to more effectively and efficiently accomplish departmental goals as defined by Board.

 Currently, in addition to his newly revived law practice, he is developing training programs for groups and organizations that are interested in becoming Community Development Corporations or Community Housing Development Organizations.  Combining his range of experience and understanding of the State and Federal opportunities, the programs provide conception to construction training for those considering developing real estate with public financing. 

 Bravacos is a 1982 graduate of Penn State with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. He received his law degree from Villanova University Law School in 1988.
